Timeless.. No concept of!  Born in a small town in South Africa in the mid seventies during the height of Apartheid, Janine is largely self taught, but has been guided by many talented art tutors, mostly in the form of intensive courses. Janine has honed her art abilities in her medium of choice which is oil painting. This is not exclusive as she has also painted in acrylics, water colours and soft pastels.  She loves colour which stems from her childhood, growing up amongst the colourful background of bright sunlight and her mother’s love for gardening.

Janine’s subjects include predominantly still life and portraiture although she has been known to paint some landscapes, but she prefers to use her photography skills in this genre.  Janine has also designed digital art covers for musicians in the past.  Influenced by a variety of artists and art styles including Leonardo da Vinci for his precision, mathematics and longevity; Norman Rockwell’s story telling ability, Edouard Manet’s peek behind the scenes; Paul Cezanne’s use of colour and Jan Vermeer’s composition and camera inspiration.

Janine uses these influences to convey emotion in her pieces.  Her ambition is for viewers to wonder what thoughts are hidden in her subject’s mind and to feel the atmosphere exuded in still life paintings.  There is something quite unique about the texture and vibrance real art holds and a transference of emotion and movement that is exclusive to each individual audience member embedded within each piece.  Janine has a strong ethos that everyone no matter where they stem from, should be able to experience the joy of art.

Janine enjoys portrait photography and leans towards the street photography type shot;
shooting for festival corporations.Capturing emotion and expressions.
Janine also enjoys using a variety of coloured lighting and uses her experience in pole dancing exercise to capture pole dancers in their natural environment, with interesting lighting.
